Privacy Policy

Read this if you want to know what messysenses.com does with data. Messysenses publishes Messysenses, and this page covers collection, use, sharing, and your options.
Rights You Have
You have rights over your data, and which ones depend on where you are. Common to most: find out what is held, get it corrected, get it deleted, get a copy, push back on a particular use, and stop your data being sold or shared for ads. GDPR applies in the UK and EU; CCPA/CPRA and its equivalents apply across a growing list of US states. Global Privacy Control is honoured. More at State Privacy Notice and Do Not Sell or Share.
What It Is Used For
We use what we hold to operate the site, to see in aggregate what readers interested in Messysenses find useful, to send subscribed email, and to enable advertising where it appears.
How Long We Keep It
We do not keep data indefinitely. Analytics expires per the provider’s policy, newsletter data ends when you unsubscribe, comment data ends when the comment goes. Security measures are proportionate: limited access, encrypted connections, and prompt removal of anything not needed. Absolute security is not something any site can promise.
Cookies and Tracking
How cookies are used here, and how to turn them off, is set out in the Cookie Policy.
Where advertising is served, third-party vendors including Google may use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites. Google’s use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to this site and/or other sites on the internet. You may opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings, or opt out of a third-party vendor’s use of cookies for personalised advertising at www.aboutads.info.
Signing Up for Email
Email goes only to people who asked for it, verified by a double opt-in step. Each send includes an unsubscribe link and a postal address, and unsubscribing takes effect straight away.
Outside Processors
The parties that may receive data are our hosting provider, any analytics service in use, the email platform behind the newsletter, and advertising networks where advertising is served. Advertising and analytics vendors generally act as independent controllers; the rest act as processors on our instruction.
Children’s Privacy
Nothing here is directed at children. The site assumes an adult reader, we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 13 (16 where required), and any such data discovered is deleted promptly.
What Comes In
Information reaches us in two ways. Automatically, through server logs and any analytics tool in use — IP address, device, browser, referrer, and which of our guides, comparisons and reference pages were opened. Directly, through anything you fill in: a newsletter box, a comment form, or an email. Specific to Messysenses: we ask readers not to send us sensitive personal details, and we delete rather than retain anything of that kind that reaches us unprompted.
How to Contact Us
You can reach us at hello@messysenses.com about this policy or to exercise any right described in it.
